The Short History of the Buchach Diocese of the Ukrainian Catholic Church Print

Our Eparchy (diocese) was created according to the decision of the Synod of Bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in 2000 and approved by the Holy Father John Paul II. Our Eparchy covers total area of 5 466 km2 with population of 402 000 inhabitants, 328 000 of which are Greek Catholic. Today, there are 314 parishes of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church registered on the territory of the Eparchy. 180 diocesan priests and 9 monk-priests are active in the pastoral care. 60 candidates for the priesthood of our Eparchy are studying at the Seminary in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk. In future after the completion of studies and training they should help in pastoral work.
